Why I Decided to Become a Life Coach

For as long as I can remember, I've had a deep passion for helping people. It's not just about what they show the world but about understanding the depths of who they truly are. Their fears, dreams, and the stories they carry within.

For years, I harbored a dream of becoming a counselor, eager to assist individuals in navigating through their traumas. Yet, it never quite felt like the perfect fit. Then, I stumbled upon life coaching. Instantly, I knew I had found my calling. Guiding individuals to overcome obstacles resonated deeply with me, especially after enduring my own share of trials and tribulations.

I struggled with severe insecurities, anxiety, and depression since middle school. I never felt good enough and constantly doubted myself and my abilities. These feelings followed me well into adulthood and unfortunately led to toxic, co-dependent relationships in which I allowed myself to be mistreated, and in some cases hurt other people as well.

My feelings about my own worth and identity were confirmed through the relationships and life experiences I subconsciously sought out. I put myself in situations where there was consumption of drugs and alcohol. I witnessed numerous friends and loved ones succumb to addiction. It’s almost miraculous that I avoided the same fate.

Life can certainly be difficult and in my experience, without knowing your worth or how to set healthy boundaries, it makes it that much harder. Without them, you will most likely continue to manifest experiences that confirm your feelings of lack.

One pivotal night, I hit rock bottom. I found myself sobbing on the bathroom floor asking God how on earth I ended up in my current situation. I couldn’t comprehend how I allowed myself to get to that point, but it was also in that moment that I knew I needed to make drastic changes.

From that moment forward, I embarked on a journey of self-awareness. I was determined to take responsibility for my own well-being and happiness rather than seeking it from another person. I read books, listened to podcasts, watched YouTube videos, and sought counselling. Slowly I began to better understand how to love myself.

I am now fiercely passionate about helping others recognize their inherent worth, uncover their purpose, God-given talents, and passions, and how integrate them into their lives. As a life coach, I assist individuals in identifying and overcoming their self-doubt and limiting beliefs, rewriting the narratives that hold them back. This is such a powerful experience and one that I feel extremely blessed to help facilitate.
